These recipes are so super easy and are with basic ingredients, so all you have to do is mix it up, fill up the Kong, stick them in the freezer and a few hours later… voila. Bon appetit!

Here are five of our favourite summer recipes that are not only tasty but are deliciously cooling.

Frozen Summer Recipes

Before starting your Frozen Kong adventure, you’ll want to consider a few pro-tips. For one, the amount of ingredients and mix will vary depending on the size of the Kong toy. We highly recommend having multiple Kongs handy so that you can freeze then all at once.

Many of these recipes use yoghurt as an ingredient. Greek yoghurt is higher in protein and may have more probiotics than regular yoghurt. If your dog is lactose intolerant, then opt-out completely from using yoghurts and substitute with unsweetened applesauce instead.

Another thing to consider is sugar. Peanut butter, apple sauce and some yoghurts often have added sugar. Sugar contains a chemical called xylitol, which can be toxic to dogs and sometimes fatal in high doses. When choosing ingredients for your pup, be sure to choose unsweetened versions and without artificial sweeteners. The fewer additives, the better!
